I would happily write about Tyler as a lover and his ability to make you feel at ease and safe in his company but i’d just be repeating what has already been said. Instead, I wanted to speak to how amazing Tyler is at doing this for somebody with significant multiple disabilities. I only have 4% vision. To become capable and independent for me requires serious training. I was embarrassed to the point of shame that I had no experience to do with dating or sex with the exception of one incident that didn’t involve my consent. I thought I was engaging Tyler to rewrite my story and explore my sexual identity on my terms. That was a huge part of the beginning of our time together. From our very first communication Tyler worked to ensure things were accessible for me, like sending voice memos so I wouldn’t have to communicate by text. when I’m with him, he keeps in some form of physical contact with me because it helps me to read his body language and I find it comforting. I’m so excited to be able to learn how to explore both sex and also how to approach dating. He is a very patient and such a quick study. when we have been out together without my guide dog, he learnt how to give sighted guide very quickly. He also adapted to giving audio description of the places we went to. I can think of nobody else i'd want helping me as I open up my world.
