Records, Rain, and Room Service

I thought I had cursed Brisbane.
The last time I was here, a cyclone rolled in. This time? Three days of rain. But thankfully, the sunshine showed up just in time—on my last day, no less—and warmed straight into my soul. That’s the beauty of this state: when it finally gives you the sun, you feel it everywhere.

The weather didn’t stop me from making the most of the trip. I was taken on my favourite kind of adventure: crate digging for records and exploring food spots tucked away around the city. There’s something about the mix of music and meals that makes me light up—it’s indulgent, playful, and endlessly satisfying.

And when the rain was too much, we leaned into it. Ordered room service. Got wrapped up in the sheets, warm and cuddly, the outside world forgotten for a while. Those are some of my favourite moments—when everything slows down, and all that’s left is comfort, closeness, and maybe a few guilty-pleasure snacks in bed.

Brisbane has always been my home. Even with the rain, even with my so-called curse, I left with good memories tucked away. Sunshine, music, food, and connection—that’s what I’ll always come back for.
