Dreamy Thoughts about Romantic Dates in Sydney with Edie Lau

As I’ve mentioned in previous entries of my Ivy Societe Blog, my interests are quite varied.

I particularly enjoy film, music, art and reading, so any dates involving these subjects would certainly be my cup of tea!
Exploring galleries, whether they be big or small, in Sydney or even beyond, is an activity I treasure.

Lately, I’ve found myself diving deeper into articles, short stories, and TV shows, although I always manage to carve out time to watch a good movie with good company. While I find it difficult to choose a favorite movie, artist, or book, there have been numerous ones that have left a lasting impression on me. The film “Old Boy” often comes to mind, and I cherished the experience of reading Donna Tartt’s “A Secret History” during my early twenties. Chekhov’s short stories are also something I return to. Somehow the bleakness keeps me going back for more.

When I find myself with some free time, I indulge in playing games like Tetris online with my friends. Retro games are so cute; as someone who wasn’t allowed to play games at all growing up, it really hits the spot. I would be more than thrilled to challenge you to a one-on-one match, by the way! In fact, I’m always open to recommendations for retro games. Maybe we can uncover some hidden gems together and reminisce about the good old days, before society decided to use virgin as an insult online.

Music also plays an important role in my life, as I enjoy playing musical instruments. From the soothing melodies of a piano to the riffs of a guitar, tapping into my creative side through music brings me a sense of fulfillment like no other. Although I can read keys, I don’t take this too seriously and enjoy jamming with friends whenever I have time.

Additionally, I find solace in the world of literature and painting. Stories have a way of transporting me to different worlds, while art practice and craft allows me to express my innermost thoughts and emotions. These creative outlets are essential for me to maintain balance and find a sense of tranquillity in the midst of a bustling city.

Exploring the magnificent Gadigal Lands has been a source of joy for me, and I eagerly anticipate venturing even further afield in the near future. There is something truly magical about immersing oneself in nature, discovering hidden trails, and breathing in the fresh air. Whether it’s a leisurely hike through the Blue Mountains or an escape to the coastal paradise of Byron Bay, I am always ready to embrace new adventures and explore the beauty that Australia has to offer. The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to see where my wanderlust will take me next.

Here are some ideas for local dates further afield:

– Rural toy and doll museums – the more cursed the better, thanks
– Railway museums
– Anywhere with miniatures
– Nimbin
– Pauline Hanson’s fish and chip shop

One of life’s greatest pleasures for me is the never-ending pursuit of trying new types of food. From the comfort of my own kitchen to the trendy restaurants in town, there’s never a shortage of new flavours to explore and indulge in. Each culinary experience unlocks a world of discovery, as I’m constantly in awe of the creativity and ingenuity behind every dish. Whether it’s a fusion of exotic cuisines or an innovative twist on a classic recipe, I eagerly embrace these gastronomic adventures with an open mind and an empty stomach. Every bite is an opportunity to savor the nuances and complexities of flavours, stimulating not only my taste buds but also my curiosity. Sampling unfamiliar ingredients and exploring unfamiliar cultural traditions through food provides a powerful connection to the diverse tapestry of our world. As I continue on this culinary journey, I am constantly reminded of the endless possibilities and delightful surprises that await, fueling my passion for gastronomy and enriching my love for new food experiences.

Some of the places that have left lasting impressions on my taste buds include:

– Short Stop Donuts. Ok I don’t have a huge sweet tooth, but these donuts are something else omg.
– Belle’s Fried Chicken
– Spice World in Chinatown
– Koi Desserts * I threw another sweet one in there to confuse you.
– The tantalizing flavors of Ho Jiak
– The ubiquitous presence of Hot Star,
– Korean BBQ joints with an array of delectable side dishes,
– Any establishment serving mouthwatering Taiwanese or Uyghur cuisine.

These are just a few examples of the diverse dining experiences that I hold dear to my heart.

Where are you going to take me?
